Weekend in Oslo : sightseeing and skijumping

After a "frightening" flight here we are on the way to Oslo city center

Girlgroup picture in front of our accomodation for the night "Anker hostel"
Let's check in!

Start of our sightseeingtour: Norwegian Parliament

Karl Johannes Gate: main street in Oslo and leading to the royal palace

The city was getting prepared for our arrival: Holmenkollen (skijumping world cup) and blue sky

And we were also prepared! First time we were wearing our sunglasses in Norway!

Grand Hotel showing the colours of Scandinavia!

The "beautiful" town hall next to the harbour

Harbour view on the fort, even nicer with this great weather!

Royal palace on the top of the hill with the royal flag, showing that the king is there (waiting for us)

Gayou was happy: Enjoy your 20Kroner (2,50€) petit pain au chocolat

Sunset on the harbour

We began the irish St.Patrick's day in a chinese restaurant, why not?

But finished more taditional in a typical irish pub with live music and 8€ beer!

Day 2: We began the day with a nice breakfast in our Headquarter for the weekend:
Deli De Luca!

Situated on the Karl Johannes Gate

What a nice idea, Kathrin! Trying to take a shortcut down the hill to catch up on us.
See the result!

Some others with a great idea: Taking a little boat, half naked in the middle of march

Here we are at the highest point of Oslo: The skijumping arena Holmenkollen!

Really impressive despite the cold and the wind

We have spent a very nice but tiring weekend as our faces can tell...

Symposium at NHH

After an interview with questions about for instance my strength and weaknesses, my way of handeling stress, I (Kathrin) was chosen to be:
A WAITRESS AT THE GREAT NHH SYMPOSIUM !!!
It is the most visited conference in north europe organized by students with more than 400 national and international participants of different parts of the economy.
This needed detailed preparation about the way of serving and how to fold napkins ...

... and just how to have a great time! Because working at Symposium means two days hard work, but before endless occasion to party:

Me, Giovanni (ITA), Benedicte (NOR) and Kirsti (NOR) in the next picture

First day of the Symposium:
I SAW THE PRINCE !!!
Unfortunetly not from this close ;)

My working place for the first day: the coffee-bar

My working place for the second day: Making hundred of liters of coffee in the basement

Finally all the hard work was rewarded with the traditional Toga-Party at the evening of the last day of the Symposium!

Getting properly dressed for the party was not so easy for us 8 exchange students ;)

After a great time in the basement with free wine and a comedy-show, we were prepared to continue in the "aula" and make this party unforgetable (in many ways ;) )

All the time during the Symposium and especially the weeks before, I had a great time getting to know more norwegians, having fun together at all the parties, several lunchs and meetings and to see what students are able to organize and how much they support their school!

Cabin-Trip!

The international office organized for us exchange students a weekend in a cabin of the school in the mountains. 30min away from Bergen by car ...

... and 20min up the mountain by foot.

At 5 o'clock we (Tanya, Helene, Gayou, Kathrin) started cooking for 50 people. Imagine: 1 oven, 2 casseroles, 6kilos rice, 5kilos meat and water from downstairs (Tanya: "Svenno, I need some more water, please")

The result of two hours of cooking!

Proud cookers ;)

Our residence for 4 hours of sleep

After a pleasant wake-up (Svenno: "WAKE UP; you have 5 minutes; we have to clean the cabin") we were excited but also scared about the way back down.

It took us 40minutes to get down this slippery and muddy mountain.

Survived!!!

The way down was actually funnier than expected ...

But just one question : Where was Naïri during this week-end ?
I was enjoying Bergen with my parents who spent three days in Norway with me !!
